POE PARK in the Bronx
Grand Concourse bet. E. 192 St. and E. K, Bronx
Opened in 1902, the park was named after famous American poet Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849), who rented its white farmhouse, now known as Poe Cottage, for $100 a year from 1846 to 1849. Built in 1812, it was here Poe wrote “The Bells,” “Eureka,” and “Annabel Lee”.

THE POE HOUSE, NEW YORK CITY
The facade of the Edgar Allan Poe house is now attached to NYU's Furman Hall facing West 3rd Street. New York University tore down the original structure. Edgar Allan Poe lived at 85 West Third Street in Greenwich Village from 1844 to the early months of 1846. The construction of Furman Hall required the demolition of Poe's former residence, but a compromise was struck in which NYU agreed to preserve the façade of the house. However, the façade was moved half a block away from the original location and now stands surrounded by nine-stories of 170,000-square-foot modernist architecture.

Join Edgar Allan Poe as he sets the mood for Halloween with his spookiest tales and anecdotes from his life. Based on his award-winning one-man play, actor Travis Rhett Wilson inhabits the Master of the Macabre as he narrates his tragic life and delivers tales of madness like "The Raven" and "The Tell-Tale Heart," as well as Poe's hauntingly melancholic final poem, "Annabel Lee."
